When you complete the Gloucester Residents Survey, we collect the following information:

  • Full name (required)

  • Voting intention – which party you are most likely to vote for (required)
  • How you found the survey – e.g. taxi card, Gloucester Cross, leaflet, face-to-face (required)

Your voting intention is special category personal data under UK GDPR because it relates to political opinions. We handle it with additional care.

3. Why do we collect this data and what is our lawful basis?

We process your personal data on the basis of legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) for the purpose of political campaigning and understanding local voter sentiment in Gloucester.

For your voting intention (special category data), we rely on substantial public interest – specifically, processing carried out in connection with political campaigning by a political party (Schedule 1, Part 2, paragraph 22 of the Data Protection Act 2018).

Where you give us explicit consent to contact you by phone or email (e.g. by ticking the marketing consent checkbox), we process your contact details on the basis of that consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You may withdraw this consent at any time.

4. How will your data be used?

  • To understand voting intentions and local priorities in the Gloucester area
  • To plan and target local political campaigning activity
  • Where you have consented, to contact you about local issues, campaigns, and updates
  • Where you have indicated willingness to help, to contact you about leaflet distribution and volunteering

5. Who do we share your data with?

Your data may be transferred to Reform UK nationally via the Reform Pro canvassing system for the purposes of national campaign coordination. Only data where explicit contact consent has been given will be used for direct marketing purposes.

We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not share your data with anyone outside of Reform UK without your knowledge.

Your survey responses are stored securely on Cloudflare D1, a cloud database service provided by Cloudflare, Inc., accessed only by authorised Reform UK – Gloucester Branch campaign staff.

6. How long do we keep your data?

We will retain your survey response until the next general election, or 2 years from the date of submission whichever is sooner, after which it will be securely deleted unless we are required by law to retain it for longer.

If you withdraw consent for contact, we will remove your contact details promptly but may retain a record that you completed the survey for statistical purposes.

7. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access – you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification – you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure – you can ask us to delete your data where there is no compelling reason for us to keep it
  • Right to object – you can object to processing based on legitimate interests, including for direct marketing
  • Right to withdraw consent – where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at: chair.gloucester@reformuk.com

We will respond to requests within one month as required by UK GDPR. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) .

8. How do we keep your data secure?

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS
  • The survey uses a CAPTCHA (Cloudflare Turnstile) to prevent automated submissions
  • The admin dashboard is protected by Cloudflare Access and requires authentication
